The Huawei Android handset that was lurking suspiciously at the back at this year’s Mobile World Congress was just a non-functional prototype – leading to suspiscions that it might not be quite ready for market. According to the Digitimes, however, T-Mobile were impressed enough to want in.
The Huawei Android phone is a slightly (i.e. very) iPhonesque number with a sleek black design but little in the way of available specifications. Nevertheless, Digitimes reports that T-Mobile is partnering with Hauwei to manufacture the device.
T-Mobile seemingly lost out to Vodafone for the rights to the HTC Magic (aka the G2) but it is possible that the Huawei Android prototype may just have appealed to them more. It is certainly a more striking looking phone, even if it is a bit derivative of certain other handsets.
For now, the specs of the Huawei Android phone remain under wraps, but T-Mobile are set to release it in the 3rd quarter of this year.
