Steve Jobs is to skip the Apple annual meeting for the first time ever since rejoining the company more than a decade ago. The CEO is taking his leave of absence seriously, and staying well away, even though shareholders will be voting on whether or not to keep him on the board.
According to news reports, Steve Jobs won’t be on hand at the annual Apple shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday – the first time Jobs has missed the meeting since returning as CEO.
It’s hardly surprising of course – Steve Jobs stepped down as CEO last month for health reasons – but since shareholders can quiz stand in CEO Tim Cook and other Apple execs about just about anything relating to their money, we could find out a lot more about the state of affairs. The meeting will also see shareholders vote on board members’ continued employment. That includes Jobs, although we’re fairly sure his position is safe. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
