The Philips Cinema 21:9 TV, the world’s first super widescreen TV for movie viewing, has finally been priced and dated. Want to know how much damage a Philips Cinema 21:9 TV will do to your wallet? Brace yourself.
The good news is that the Philips Cinema 21:9 TV will start shipping in Europe as early as June, so it is indeed on schedule for a Q2 released as Philips promised.
The bad news? The Philips Cinema 21:9 TV is also on schedule for a €4,000 pricetag, and with exchange rates the way they are right now, that’s £3,550 that makes a Loewe telly seem like a bargain.
€4,000 is an awful lot for a 56inch TV that will be essentially half the size if you’re watching anything in 4:3 aspect ratio. Still, we’ve seen the Philips Cinema 21:9 in action and it is a little bit special, so if you need some convincing be sure to check out our hands on and official photo galleries.
