Asus will only sell 10 inch Eee PC models from now on, according to a top Asus exec. Say farewell to the 8.9 inch Eee PC models after the jump.
The president of Asus Asia-Pacfific has just announced that Asus will concentrate on 10 inch net Eee PC netbooks only from now on. Asus estimates that the larger 10 inch Eee PCs will account for 95% of all Eee PC sales this year, with the wee 8.9 inch 700 and 900 models making up just 5%.
The move is intended to help it compete against netbook rival Acer, which is hoovering up the 8.9/9 inch market.
It’s a bit of a shame, but it does explain how Asus can say it’s streamlining the number of Eee PCs and still wheel out another Eee PC 1000 at Mobile World Congress. We’ll keep you posted.
