A WiMAX Eee PC, the Asus Eee PC 1000HG, has just been launched at Mobile World Congress. Yes, we know it’s another Eee PC and Asus said it would stop, but we’ll cut them some slack for this one. Find out why after the jump!
The Eee PC 1000HG is a ten inch netbook that packs both Wi-Fi and WiMAX for high speed roaming internet (Where it’s available, which is only Baltimore at the moment, admittedly).
A welcome addition to the Eee PC family, as WiMAX is the next logical step after 3.5G enabled models, but we can’t help but feel it’s a bit of a step back design wise compared to another new Eee PC 1000, the 1000HE.
That, and Asus said it was streamlining the number of Eee PCs. When will it learn that having so many models, with numerous configuration options, is getting terribly confusing?
