Canon has just updated its Digital IXUS range to include HD video recording. The Flip might as well go home, to be honest. All the details on Canon’s new Digital ISUX line after the break.
This is getting silly now. First Fujifilm, then Samsung, then Sony all bring out a new line of digital cameras, and now Canon too. As well as a waterproof PowerShot, it’s released no fewer than four new Digital IXUS cameras – and they all shoot video in HD.
Up first we’ve got the Canon Digital IXUS 100 IS: a slim, shockingly red 12.1MP compact with scene detection and even a HDMI socket to play back your home movies on the box. That’s followed by the Canon Digital IXUS 110 IS, featuring similar specs but a 4x wide angle lens too.
Next up is the Canon Digital IXUS 990 IS, another 12.1MP compact with a 5x optical zoom, a 3 inch LCD display and extra shooting modes including “Creative Light Effect” and “Zoom Blur”, though the latter is easily simulated by alcohol.
And lastly, there’s the Canon IXUS 95 IS, a 10 megapixeller designed for the entry level market, though with a strangely high pricetag of £249.
The IXUS 95 is out within the week, while the IXUS 100 and 110 models are out from March at £299 and £349 respectively, while the IXUS 990 IS drops in April. We’re off to see if we can’t get a few hands on photos with the range, so stay tuned.
