O2 has launched Litmus, its own app store with a twist – it’ll pay people to use it. Find out how O2 Litmus will take on the app world big boys after the jump!
At first glance, O2 Litmus is just another app store, but the network provider has put a fresh spin on it. Almost every mobile platform other than iPhone will be catered for, from Java all the way to Symbian S60. Oh, and it’ll pay you to test apps before release.
Litmus puts developers and tech savvy peeps together to try software before release, but the beauty is that you can bid for your time to test it – if a developer likes the offer, he’ll accept and pay, and as you test more apps your rating and earning power goes up. Cha-ching!
There are apps for sale on Litmus, but the real purpose is to get feedback, and cherrypick the best for sale to Joe Public, so you’ll only be able to join Litmus by request or invitation through a member. So, be nice to us, and we might just ask you.
App Store, App Centre, App Catalog, Android Market, Microsoft something or other: the list of new app stores is endless. Will O2 Litmus survive? Would you join? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
