The first piece of downloadable content (DLC) for GTA 4 launches tomorrow. If you haven’t already got the skinny on GTA 4: Lost and Damned, we’ve got every reason you could possibly need for plonking down the required 1600 Microsoft Points. Read them all after the jump!
1) Grenade launchers
GTA 4: Lost and Damned includes a load of new weapons, including an automatic pistol, sawn off shotgun and an automatic shotgun. The best addition to the armory, however, is the grenade launcher. It’s merciless, causes carnage at the flick of a trigger finger, and even makes the requisite ‘thunk’ noise as you rain down ordinance on enemies.
2) Pipe bombs
Alongside new guns, GTA 4: Lost and Damned replaces grenades with pipe bombs. They feel grittier, and more dangerous. They still cause roughly the same amount of damage though.
3) The Hexer
GTA 4: Lost and Damned’s central character gets an all new ride: the Hexer bike. It’s exclusive to him, and a real hog. Players are also able to fire weapons from their bikes, which now handle slightly better for more control and fewer unintentional flying trips.
4) Ruckus on rails
GTA 4: Lost and Damned reintroduces an old GTA favourite: missions on rails. There are times when an accomplice will drive you through the streets of Liberty City, while you take pot-shots at law enforcement or rivals.
5) Sheer scale
Rockstar says GTA 4: Lost and Damned represents a whopping 30% increase in gameplay over the original. That’s a lot more shooting, and a really meaty story to get to grips with! The only downside is it might take a while to download the whopping 2GB package from Xbox Live.
6) New content
As well as new missions, characters and weapons, GTA 4: Lost and Damned also includes new TV channels and a whole new radio station. Hosted by Max Cavalera from trash metal band Sepultura it has immediate biker credentials. Not into metal? How about rap? Busta Rhymes has also recorded material for Lost and Damned, including three tracks exclusive to the game.
7) New minigames
As well as new missions, there are a ton of new minigames inside GTA 4: Lost and Damned. They include typical biker pastimes, such as arm wrestling and card games. New pedestrians open up mini missions too, so there’s tons to explore.
