PS3 gamers who have yet to make use of their Blu-ray player to actually watch movies might soon change their minds if Sony comes through on its latest bright idea – stuffing both a film and a game onto the same Blu-Ray disc.

PS3 games typically take up only around 30-40GB of Blu-ray’s 50GB capacity, according to Sony, which would leave 10-20GB to fill with a movie. A PS3 game/movie hybrid could be just the thing to make the most of the PS3′s unique Blu-Ray selling point.

“There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn’t it be great to marry these concepts?” said Sony’s John Koller, “We will definitely see this stuff this year.”

Sony’s DVD unit have confirmed that they are working on one such hybrid PS3 title, but no titles have been released yet. Koller also said that Sony have not rules out a PS3 price adjustment this year. Downwards, presumably.
