Microsoft is to launch its own chain of Microsoft stores to take on Apple on the high street. All the details after the jump!
Despite the economic downturn that’s seen falling Zune sales and Microsoft redundancies, Redmond is planning to open a chain of Microsoft stores and revamp the company’s image – it’s even hired a Wal-Mart exec to run them.
Microsoft clearly sees Apple’s presence on the high street has helped improve its image and it wants a slice of the action, especially after the PR disaster that was Vista.
There are few details so far, but we know that there will be “Gurus” in every store to help fix problems. Sounds like Apple’s Genius Bar has a few fans in Redmond.
So what will they look like? We’ve no idea just yet but we hope they’re nothing like Microsoft‘s supermarket of the future. That, frankly, was chilling. We’ll keep you posted.
