Mario & Sonic had such a good time at the Beijing Olympics that they will be swapping their tracksuits for snow goggles and thermal undies as they head to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics is still to be oficially rubber-stamped by SEGA, but Director of Licensing Dennis Kim unofficially gave the nod in an interview with The Vancouver Province this week.

“Last year, 2008, they had a very successful game using Mario & Sonic at the Beijing Games, as well as a multi-sport simulation type of game,” said Kim, “That’s what’s being discussed and planned for Vancouver.”

In the Beijing edition, Mario & Sonic were joined by characters for their respectyive franchises as they competed head to head in a variety of summer events. No events have been confirmed for the Winter Mario & Sonic game, but if we don’t see Sonic zooming the wrong way up a ski jump after some golden rings, there is something badly wrong with the world.
