The LG Arena has already leaked in still pictures, but now there’s video online too, showing off its S-Class “cube” interface. The Arena appears to separate media from phone and messaging apps by devoting different “sides” of its cube to different functions. Get the details after the jump.
Shown off by Swedish site DN Webb-TV, the LG Arena shows there’s some serious effort being put in by the company’s software boffins. It’s slick, fast and ultra-responsive.
The screen doesn’t appear to be multitouch, as rumours had suggested, but does recognise gestures, quickly flipping photos over and skimming through menus. The Arena auto-rotates too, using an accelerometer inside to spin photos and menus.
And it’s the LG Arena’s menus that are most interesting. As well as spinning on a virtual cube, they also rotate with the phone, packing in a ton of options while horizontal. They can also be re-ordered with the swipe of a finger, a bit like the iPhone.
It looks like the LG Arena will be on sale by April, costing around £370 SIM-free. Of course, you’ll almost certainly get a discount on contract.
