Xbox Live is throwing open its doors to celebrate the release of the first Downloadable Content for Grand Theft Auto IV - biker gang spinoff The Lost and the Damned.

Xbox Live Silver members will get an effective upgrade to Gold membership while playing either GTA IV or its first episodic DLC release The Lost and the Damned.

The Xbox Live freebie is good for (just under) one week only – things kick off on Tuesday 17th February and conclude on Sunday 22nd. In between those dates, the full multiplayer extravaganza that is Xbox Live will be avaialable – but only for GTA IV and its kin, so don’t be expecting to get some Team Fortress in on the sly.

Microsoft and Rockstar have some special Xbox Live events planned for that week, too, including the chance to take on the DLC devlopment team at literally their own game in a series of multiplayer matches on Feb 20th and an Xbox Live Gamerchix Ladies Night on the 18th.
