Fujitsu may have just topped the Kindle: It’s got a new eBook in the pipeline with a colour screen! Find out about Fujitsu’s Amazon Kindle killer after the jump!
Fujitsu’s eBook uses the company’s own FLEPia technology to show books, newspaper and magazines on a massive screen. Here’s the twist though: the screen’s similar to the e-ink panels of the Kindle 2 and the Sony Reader, so it won’t hurt your eyes, but it’s in colour.
The screen’s touch sensitive so there’s no need for a keyboard, and there’s wi-fi, USB 2.0 and SD card connectivity built in, as well as stereo speakers – and the whole thing runs for up to 50 hours on a single charge.
Sounds too good to be true? That’s because it is for now: unfortunately, the device is only being tested in a single restaurant in Tokyo at the moment, and even if it does see the light of day, it’ll still set you back a steep $900. That makes the Kindle 2’s $360 pricetag seem almost tempting. You can be sure we’ll be keeping an eye on this one though.
