Beneath the Ashes – the first dollop of downloadables for Tomb Raider: Underworld has been pushed back due to a “technical issue”.

Beneath the Ashes is an Xbox 360 exclusive and was due for release via Xbox Live on February 10th. An Eidos spokesperson issued the following statement regarding the problems,

“An unexpected technical issue means that Beneath the Ashes will not be available to download on 10th February as planned. We apologize for this delay and we are doing everything we can to bring you this exciting new content for Tomb Raider: Underworld as soon as possible.”

Although Beneath the Ashes is delayed with no release date, the next bit of DLC – Lara’s Shadow, also an Xbox 360 exclusive – is still scheduled for a March 10th release. We assume that the former will get pushed out first, unless Lara’s Shadow is completely independant of Beneath the Ashes, story-wise.

The plot of Beneath the Ashes sees Lara wandering around in the sub-sub-sub basement of the ruined croft Manor having discovered a labyrinth of caverns and puzzle-laden rooms. We’re not sure, but we seem to recall playing this game inthe 1980s when it was called Jet Set Willy.

This is SO frustrating, I bought an XBOX 360 soley for these downloads, already having the game on the PS3. :(
