Sony has just launched a GPS image tracker that will let you geotag images with any Sony Cyber-shot camera. Get all the details on the Sony GPS-CS3KA after the jump!
The Sony GPS gizmo is a clever solution for anyone who loves the location tools in the likes of iLife 09. Carry it around in your pocket whilst you shoot, then plug it in to the computer while you sync your photos and it’ll add location data to your images by checking the timestamp. Afterwards, you’ll be able to see where everything was taken on Google Maps.
It pretty much combines the power of new Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot cameraphones with cameras that actually have decent lenses in, and we’re all for that. The GPS-CS3KA will work with almost every Cyber-shot digital camera or Sony Handycam camcorder on the market, and will run for 15 hours from a single AA battery, and there’s a dual MS/SD card slot to store data on.
Sony says it’ll ship in the US at least in late March for $150, and while there’s no word whether the GPS will work abroad, we’ll be chasing Sony to find out. Now all we need is this sort of technology combined inside a camera like the Wi-Fi enabled Cyber-shot we saw at CES. Then we’d be laughing.
