Asus Eee turned into Origami

Why wait for the Asus Origami folding AIRO PC when you can just turn your old Eee PC 701 into one instead? That’s what one enterprising Japanese modder has done, giving his old Eee PC the Origami treatment with a touchscreen and new folding look.

The next Ben Heck has taken the year old Eee 701 and dismembered it from the keyboard before giving it a new shell and a touchscreen. In the process, he’s not only beaten Asus itself to the punch, but made it lighter too, from 2 pounds down to 1.68.

Looks remarkably like the Asus Origami AIRO PC, doesn’t it? It’s missing the three way fold, but the modder has clearly taken inspiration from it.

The creator wants it to be sold commercially, but we somehow doubt that’ll happen. Looks like we’ll have to wait until Asus finally releases all those lovely products we saw at CES last month, but in the meantime you can lust after it in our gallery below.
