Sims 3 slips back 3 months

Electronic Arts have confirmed the rumours – The Sims 3 has been pushed back three months for continued development and will not hit the shelves on June 3rd. Looking for a Sims fix? Looks like you’ll have to wait.

The sequel has reportedly been postponed for further development and to allow EA to properly promote the title.

EA Vice Prez Russel Arons is putting a brave face on things. “The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3. The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness.”

Riiiight. So it’s a good thing the Sims 3 has been delayed? We’re not sure we buy that.

The move comes as EA has announced huge financial losses and job cuts following disappointing sales. That’s more likely the reason behind the Sims 3 delay, so lets hope they can sufficiently ‘create awareness’ and make it sell a bundle when we finally get hold of it.
