Stalkers of the world rejoice! Google has launched Latitude, a mobile app that can tell you exactly where your friends are and plot them all conveniently on a map for you.

Of course, you do need to explicitly share your location with someone before they can track you down – you can send requests via email and SMS or just pick from your list of Gmail contacts.

If you manage to convince any of your mates to sign up, you can then see exactly where they are and if anyone’s nearby. The app uses GPS or, failing that, mobile phone network info to try and work out your location.

Latitude is included as part of Google Maps 3.0 and is available on Symbian S60, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile phones. iPhone users will have to wait a little longer.
