Got a netbook? Getting fed up with Windows XP or that Fisher Price Linux OS that came installed on it? It’s easy to think that the low specs on most netbooks limit your options when it comes to choice of operating systems, but you’d be wrong.

There are plenty of other options out there, and we’ve got the three best reasons to ditch your netbook OS after the jump – and Vista isn’t one of them, we promise!

Intel Moblin
Intel already has its own Classmate netbook range, but the silicon giant has been dabbling with a netbook OS too, Moblin. Moblin is based on Fedora, a popular Linux distro, but caters for the current range of Intel Atom powered netbooks by offering better power consumption and speedier boot times. It’s in alpha at the moment, but available for anyone to try right now.

Windows 7 netbook edition
Microsoft really missed a trick by making Vista so power hungry (we’re not sure what Sony is thinking by bunging it on the VAIO P), but by all reports, Windows 7 works a treat on netbooks. The stripped down, intuitive OS packs in brilliant new features like a toolbar that betters Mac OS X and a powerful launching tool, Jump Lists. It’s in beta now, but you might want to hold off, as it looks like Microsoft is planning a specific Windows 7 netbook edition – we can’t wait.

Jolicloud
Jolicloud is possibly the first OS designed for netbooks that manages to be powerful, beautiful and user friendly, booting in double quick time. The iPhone style interface looks gorgeous, and although it has yet to be released, it’s clear from the demo shots posted online that all other netbook OS makers have something to worry about. It’ll be in beta shortly, so you’ll soon be able to take Jolicloud for a spin.

That Fisher Price OS? What do you think Jolicloud is.

I’ve only seen the above screen, true, but Jolicloud looks far more useful than Xandros on my Eee 701.Now, that’s a truly Fisher Price OS – why would I want a big Wikipedia button on my desktop?

What about Leopard OS X,I know you are not supposed to use it, but a lot of MSI Wind users are and love it if you read their forums.
