Rumours of a Samsung 12 megapixel camera phone look likely to just be just that, rumours, as the photo doing the rounds is no more than a photoshopped Samsung Innov8 handset.
Korean news sites are reporting that Samsung will unveil the world’s first 12 megapixel camera phone at Mobile World Congress. There are few other details as of yet, but it’s also been reported that Samsung will roll this one out at the end of February, and in Europe first. This ought to have the likes of LG and Sony Ericsson quaking in their boots, except for one thing – the accompanying image is fake. Look closely and you can even see where the number 12 has been grafted on.
Sony revealed it had a 12MP sensor ready to go in November, with Sharp following suit a fortnight ago, and officially too, so we’ll wait until Mobile World Congress to see if Samsung can join them or not. Rest assured, we’ll be there to keep you in the loop.
