The Polaroid Pogo is a pocket-sized printer capable of churning out photo-quality prints in a few seconds. It is one of the ways in which Polaroid is trying to fight back at digital photography whipping the rug out from underneath its instant-snaps business. Trouble is.. it doesn’t work with the iPhone, and Polaroid thinks that that is a shame.

The Pogo has slots for assorted-sized memory cards or can use Bluetooth to pair with a camera or phone and receive pictures over the air. Unfortunately, neither of those methods will work with the iPhone – it has no card slot and Apple has locked down its Bluetooth capabilities to work with a very limited number of devices.

Polaroid sent the following to The Unofficial Apple Weblog to try and drum up some support.

To encourage Apple to become compatible with the Polaroid Pogo printer, we are asking iPhone owners to submit an enhancement request form at the following link and to express their interest for better Bluetooth transfer capabilities including OPP profile so they can print to the Polaroid Pogo printer.

What on earth is the point in fighting this battle. The iPhone’s appaling 2mp camera does not create photos good enough to print on a 2cmx2cm sticker.

Polaroid, don’t bother with the iPhone, not until it gets a decent built in camera; and this is coming from a proud iPhone owner!

Ah, unless they’ve upgraded the Pogo since it release in July 2007, I don’t believe it has card reader capabilitites at this point yet. m-

iPhone user need not worry,The team at iBluetoothProject.tk has released a small MobileTerminal app to demonstrate their progress in unlocking the iPhone’s bluetooth capabilities. there is always around a problem ;-)

Apple’s stubbornness tends to encourage people to hack there products, they are no better than M$
