PS3 shooter Killzone 2 might be one of the last titles that springs to mind when you think of casual gaming. Certainly, a Killzone 2 browser-based game that simulates your PC being attacked by hordes of skull-faced Helghast might be a tad more stressful that the average puzzler.
Sony are upping the marketing ante for Killzone 2 with a downloadable browser-based game for Internet Explorer and Firefox that lets player create a ‘squad’ of up to three additional friends. At any point while browsing the web, their PC might be ‘attacked’ and fellow squad members must come to their aid.
“They can alert their squad members to come and help them and if the team can collaboratively vanquish the Helghast threat,” says Killzone 2 product manager Phil Lynch, “they’ll get their score posted onto the leaderboard and be in with a chance to win some prizes and unlock additional content.”
