Sony booth tour: CES photo fest!

Sony stole the show at this year’s CES, with a gigantic booth positively heaving with next-gen gadgets. There were prototype OLED TVs, the new X-Series Walkman and Vaio P netbook.

All that and episodes of Jeopardy! being recorded next door, using Sony equipment.

The Sony stand was constantly packed, but we braved the crowds to bring you a slew of photos from the floor. See them all after the jump!

We’ve just seen a mini Robot Einstein, and we’re still a little freaked out by the 18-inch ‘Frubber’ faced android in action. Currently being developed by Hanson Robotics, the diminutive droid genius is far from completion and dubiously promises to do much more than is on show here at CES 2009.

Nokia Locate Sensor has just made its debut at CES 2009. The brainchild of the folk over at the Nokia Research Center, Locate Sensor is a prototype service designed to help ensure you never lose anything. You simply attach a physical wireless location tag (see photo gallery) to stuff such as your keys or wallet, and if you drop anything or it gets nicked from your pocket the accompanying Nokia Locate Sensor app points you in the direction of the item and even tells you how far away it is.

Asus sent our jaws to the floor when it unveiled its Oiro origami laptop concept at CES, using an origami style folding mechanism to expand the keyboard when the lid is open, and allow more efficient cooling airflow. What we didn’t realise is that the concept is actually close to being put in production.
