Gamers are making new levels for LittleBigPlanet at an astonishing rate. The latest figures from Sony show the rag doll platformer gets a new level every 30 seconds, and it’s already topped 350,000 in total!
PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet has prided itself on its powerful and user friendly level creation engine, but we still weren’t expecting such enormous figures – 350,000? Making a decent, lengthy level takes a good 90 minutes, so that’s more than half a million gamer hours spent building in the sandbox alone.
That doesn’t compare to the number of hours clocked up by the likes of Halo on Xbox Live, of course (That’s into the billions), but this is level creation we’re talking about, not shooting each other in the face, something most gamers would consider much dryer. Who needs games developers to come up with extra DLC when gamers can do it themselves?
Just think. In the time you’ve read this story, someone, somewhere has made another level or two for you to play through. What are you waiting for? Get that joypad out!
