Philips working on 3D TV

Philips has just said it’s working on 3D TV for mass market – get all the multi dimensional news after the break!

At the unveiling of Philip’s new Cinema 21:9 ultra widescreen TV, customer marketing director for Philips TV, Paul Hobden, said that Philips was looking closely into 3D TV.

“Philips is working with a proposition in the 3D market…That’s something we’re working very closely on,” he said. Hobden wouldn’t reveal anything further, but that’s good enough for us.

So, Philips joins the list of companies trying to break into 3D TV (Panasonic, Sony, LG and more). Will it work? It sounds like a bit of a gamble to us, especially considering Philips just posted massive losses and announced 6,000 job cuts. We much prefer the sound of Toshiba’s Cell TV system, but we’re more than willing to be proved wrong, so Philips: bring it on.

  1. It would be awesome if it was curved and displayed a hologram in the focal point. I can’t wait to see how this product unfolds.
