Apple has quietly released an update to the operating system of both the iPhone and iPod Touch that fixes a few minor issues (and will probably break your jailbroken phone).

The upgrade brings the OS up to version 2.1.1 and the main fix seems to be an increase in stability of the Safari web browser and a fix for an issue where images saved from within the Mail app do not display correctly in the Camera Roll.

The iPod Touch version of the update also fixes a problem where some Apple Lossless (ALAC) audio files could skip during playback.

To get the update, you need to connect your iPhone or iPod to a PC or Mac running iTunes and tap “Check for Updates” on the device screen. The upgrade is around 246MB, so it may take a while on a slow connection.

There are some reports that the update will brick your phone if you have performed a jailbreak or carrier unlock so, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
