Microsoft has been running the Windows 7 download scheme for a while, but if you haven’t got hold of a Beta copy yet, you’re in luck – it’s just been extended until February 10th. That means there’s still time for you to grab the installation DVD and give it a whirl.
In case you needed any convincing, Windows 7 is faster than Vista, comes with tons of new interface tweaks and should improve the performance of just about any PC.
The only problem is it’s not final yet. The Beta version still has kinks to be worked out, but you’re a tech enthusiast, aren’t you? So what are you waiting for?! Give it a whirl.
Something you might have to wait a little while longer to get your hands on is Windows Mobile 6.5.
It’s due to make Microsoft-powered phones much more user friendly, with an all-new honeycomb interface that makes prodding its screen much more finger friendly.
It seems to be progressing nicely though. Shots of its latest Alpha version have just popped up online, showing a much more polished interface. Check it out here!
Pop back later today for tons more news, or if you’re short on time, the Lunchtime Lowdown at 12:30, bringing you up to speed with the morning’s biggest stories.
