The movie industry’s mission to make terrible film versions of popular videogames continues apace. Director Len Wiseman has been expounding on his plans for bringing the hit Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War to the big screen.
Wiseman is best known for his work on the (appalling) fourth Die Hard flick, Live Free or Die Hard (UK title: Die Hard 4 – Die Even Harderer) and is devloping the Gears film with Chris Morgan, screenwriter on Wanted and The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift.
After using a console playing Gears as a background detail in Die Hard 4, Wiseman became intrigued and set about developing the property as a trilogy of sci-fi-horror action movies. Rather than emphasising just Sci-Fi, Horror or Action however, Wiseman plans to tackle the lot.
“The hope is that were wanting to do a three movies and really cover the bases on everything,” said Wiseman. “Basically a harder edged Lord Of The Rings.”
