It’s lunchtime and we’ve got one humdinger of a lowdown for ya. So grab yourself a sarnie and your choice of hot or cold beverage, take a breather and feast your peepers on the morning’s biggest tech stories.
First up, today is the day that Nokia unleashes the long-awaited 5800 XpressMusic upon the UK – and we were right there at the Finnish firm’s Regent Street flagship store to probe the punters and, er, watch that little fella who won Britain’s Got Talent doing some breakdancing. Read about it here.
Poor old Sony is apparently about to post its first operating loss in 14 years (and it’s going to be a big one too) but there could be some chinks of light breaking through the gloom, at least for camera lovers. If Internet tittle-tattle is correct, Sony will be launching a new A800 DSLR body in March, boasting 15.2 megapixels and a “super-fast dual-speed auto focus motor”.
One thing that won’t be launching any time soon is the much-rumoured iPhone nano. Acting Apple CEO Tim Cook told a conference call that “we’re not going to play in the low-end voice phone business… We’ll let somebody [else] do that.” That’ll put an end to the speculation. Not.
