What if you could have an iPhone-style interface on your netbook? Not necessarily touchscreen-powered, but based around clear, easy-to-read icons and a distinct lack of clutter? Well, it’s on its way – and it’s called Jolicloud.
Developed by Netvibes founder Tariq Krim, it’s a stripped down, Linux-based OS with a custom browser. Basically, it’s designed to simplify netbook use, but we’ve only seen blurry snapshots of how it looks – until now.
Now the makers themselves have posted a sneak peek shot of the application directory on Flickr (go here for a high quality version) – and it looks glorious. It’s very iPhone-like indeed, not just in its use of large icons but in the battery, 3G and Wi-Fi indicators at the top right of the screen.
Jolicloud will reportedly be released as a private beta soon, with a retail version to follow, hopefully in the next few months. We’ll keep you posted.
