The BlackBerry Storm is due a new software update any day, but it won’t just deliver bug fixes, it’ll add a whole new QWERTY keyboard for use in portrait mode.
It’ll come as a relief to anyone not chuffed with RIM’s SureType keyboard, but who doesn’t want to tap out e-mails and texts while holding the phone like a PSP.
Spied by the chaps at Engadget, the new firmware hasn’t been released yet, but when it is it’ll also bring increased stability, and put an end to some of the BlackBerry Storm’s crashes.
RIM has also stopped the Storm’s backlight coming on each time the phone is “knocked” while in standby mode. A good move, and one which should save a ton of battery life.
