Asus is yet to say when we’ll see the laptops unveiled at CES in the UK, but it’s making it up to us by confirming two new models, the F50 and F70, are headed to these shores this year!
An Asus spokesperson has confirmed that the F50 and F70 range of large laptops will be launching in Blighty this year. The 16 inch F50 and 17.3 inch F70 both pack a 16:9 ratio screen, Blu-ray and HDMI if you fancy lashing up a flatscreen TV for 1080p HD action, as well as a whole terabyte of hard drive space to store everything, and an NVIDI 9400M graphics card and Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion 64 processor to keep things ticking along.
Best of all though, it’s got a quick launch option to instantly open email, internet, a media player and Skype, dodging the interminable Windows Vista-go-and-make-some-tea start up intermission.
They won’t be pricey either: an Asus spokesperson has promised they won’t cost “an arm and a leg”. We’re not sure how much that translates to in real money, but we’ll take a budget multimedia machine from Asus any day. We’re not so sure about the wavy pattern printed on the lid though – we assume that wiggly lines are Taiwanese for trendy. We’ll keep you posted.
