The new Sanyo Xacti range of camcorders will launch in the UK tonight, but thanks to the time difference with Japan we’ve got a sneak peek of what’s in store, and it’s a new set of video cameras with three world first skills.

Sanyo’s new DMX-HD2000/FH11 will be the first camcorder to shoot full HD video in progressive format and at 60fps. It’s a slick pistol-grip camcorder, and also boasts 16x zoom.

Then there’s the DMX-CA9 and DMX-WH1, which Sanyo says are the world’s first waterproof HD cameras, and also pack in a whopping 30x zoom.

Lastly, there’s the DMX-CG10. Sanyo says it’s the first camcorder to shoot HD video and 10 megapixel still shots. We’re assuming they mean it’ll shoot proper stills, rather than upsampling lower megapixel shots like most camcorders.

We’ll be getting up close with them at Sanyo’s launch tonight. Stay tuned for a full hands-on report.
