Dublin-based developers Jolt Online Gaming has acquired the rights to Infocom’s classic Zork games and plans to relaunch the series as a casual web-based game - Legends of Zork.
This could be a tricky prospect – the Zork series holds many fond memories for a number of gamers and it would be VERY easy to annoy them – as Activision proved with its ill-advised CD-Rom effor ‘Return to Zork’.
Legends of Zork is set some time after the existing games – the Great Underground Empire has collapsed and the world is in a sort of medieval credit crunch situation. As a newly-unemployed travelling salesman you are in the perfect situation to try a bit of adventuring and re-make your fortune alongside all the other hard up adventurers.
