UPDATE: We thought it was too good to be true – just minutes after it appeared Pixmania has pulled the iPhone from its site. Is it a sign of things to come though? £499 sounds expensive enough for a SIM-free offer in the UK
The unlocked iPhone 3G is on sale in the UK! Pixmania just put the handset on its site with no strings attached, albeit in exchange for £499 of your hard-earned. Find out more after the jump.
As of today, UK online store Pixmania is listing a SIM-free iPhone 3G 8GB for £499 including VAT, so you’ll be able to keep your current contract and still have access to iTunes, the App Store and much much more, without having to make the jump to O2’s £30 a month contract.
Admittedly, £499 is a painful amount of cash to part with, but with other rival polygamous smartphones going for similar amounts (The Nokia N97 will retail for a cool £479), it’s around the current standard for unlocked clever clog phones.
