One of our most hotly-anticipated new handsets, the Nokia N97 has been slated for release in ‘early 2009′ but no firm date has been given. If Play.com’s pre-orders are to be believed however, you will be able to get you hands on one at the end of March.
Onliine retailers Play.com have opened up pre-orders for the new phone and reckon they will be shipping it on March 31st in the UK. Play are charging £479.99 for an unlocked SIM-freeversion of the phone. You do get free delivery, which is something.
The N97 is a slimline touchscreen phone with a slide-out keyboard that promises a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and an ample 32GB of onboard storage (expandable via SD card).
Of particular note is the phone’s battery life. Nokia claims it can deliver 400 hours of standby time – more than a fortnight. Userrs can also look forward to around 37 hours of music (MP3, WAV, eAAC and WMA) or 4.5 hours of video playback on a single charge.
