Using Lotus Notes at work? Then a new LinkedIn plugin is about to make you the most productive worker in the office… or at least let you stalk people from the comfort of your e-mail app!

LinkedIn has teamed up with IBM to add integration of its professional social network to Lotus Notes. It’ll let users tap into information about their contacts without leaving the e-mail app.

Simple details, like their job title, will be pre-populated, and automatically bulk up your contacts book.

It won’t go so far as automatically looking up details for people you don’t know, or who are simply mentioned in e-mails, but that feature is planned for the next release.

LinkedIn will also integrate with Lotus’ business-based social networking app, called Lotus Connections, which lets corporations run their own social networks for employees only.

The new services will launch later this year.
