Jobs to remain on Disney board, despite health worries

January 19th, 2009

Steve Jobs isn’t just the CEO of Apple, he also holds a place on the board of directors at Disney, after selling Pixar to the animation powerhouse in 2006 and unlike Apple, he’s not stepping down from his role there due to ill health.

Jobs has been slated in Disney’s 12-person board of directors for 2009, which means he will attend at least 75% of  their meetings throughout the next year. Hardly a slow-down for someone suffering health worries, is it?

It’s an encouraging bit of news, and proves Jobs isn’t ready to retire just yet. Instead, he’s keeping his affairs as close to ‘business as usual’ as possible.

That said, it’s important to remember his role at Disney is nowhere near as critical as the one he holds at Apple. Sure, he’s the Animation house’s largest single shareholder, but he isn’t technically employed by the firm and receives no salary for his role as a director.
