There have been rumours of a Dell-branded mobile phone for ages – this time last year the company was meant to have a Windows Mobile device prepped and ready to launch, for example – but nothing solid has ever appeared. Could 2009 be the right time?
Industry analyst Shaw Wu is predicting that Dell will shortly (possily as soon as next month) go public with its own Smartphone design. Although the smart money seems to be flowing towards Android at he moment, odds are good that Dell will lean towards Windows Mobile, given its close relationship with Microsoft.
Much of the industry chatter centres on the recent hiring of ex-Motorola executive Ron Garriques, who was behind much of the Motorola RAZR’s success.
