It’s a bad day for TV chucker Sling Media: the company’s top brass have all deserted in just over a day, with a slate of execs handing in their resignation letters.
Out the door are Blake and Jason Krikorian, original founders of the company and CEO and vice president of business development respectively, along with Jason Hirschhorn, president, Ben White, chief creative officer, and Greg Wilkes, VP for sales.
The exodus comes a year after cable company EchoStar bought out Sling, and though the team all agreed to stay on for a year, it looks like 365 days can’t have gone by fast enough – tension with the new owners looks like the cause. The Krikorians especially are known for their entrepreneurial bent, so it’s possible they’re looking for a new challenge – or even have an idea planned already.
What does this mean for the company? We weren’t entirely impressed with the Sling Catcher, but the company’s recent BlackBerry and iPhone apps should mean there’s plenty to look forward to still. Maybe Motorola’s Sling-style technology on display at CES last week has them all scared. But probably not. We’ll keep you posted, as always.
