Palm has announced that the Palm Pre will have its own online store selling webOS apps. So that’s a Store that sells Apps – where do you even begin trying to think up a name for something like that?
Obviously you would call it the App Catalog, wouldn’t you? Well Palm is, anyway.
The system development kit for webOS – codenamed Mojo – won’t be available to developers until closer to the phone’s launch date but Palm have confirmed that it will contain programming libraries that will allow access to much of the phone’s internal workings.
Palm did confirm to Engadget, however, that the emphasis was going to be on web services, messaging and communication apps with games being much less of a priority. This could be a problem – as much as the iPhone is a very capable web and email device, its 3D, accelerometer powered games are generating much of the phone’s wow factor at the moment.
