We weren’t expecting much on the mobile phone front at CES this year – most of the big players had released their flagship phones in the run up to Christmas – but we were quietly impressed with the mobile phones on display. See what phones you’ll be saving for after the jump.
Palm pre
It was all or nothing for Palm at CES this year: with BlackBerry stealing all its sales, it had to come good and it did. The Palm pre was one of the highlights of the whole show, taking the integrated address book of the INQ1 and adding a stunning design and intuitive interface – plus one of the world’s first commercial wireless chargers. No European release date, but it’ll be out in the US by the summer at the latest.
LG GD910 Watch Phone
We’re been getting a bit bored of LG’s touchscreen smartphones of late, but it made us sit up and pay attention at the company’s press conference with a Dick Tracy telephone timepiece that we’d actually use. The Watch Phone has a full colour touchscreen, 3G and HSDPA downloads and weighs only 84g. No pricing yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Nokia Locate Sensor
With the Nokia N97 only announced in December, there were no new finished products at the Finnish phone company’s CES stand, but one fantastic prototype, the Nokia Locate Sensor. Making great use of GPS, the phone comes with a tiny electronic tag you can attach to any of your valuables – if you lose them or they start straying too far from your person, it’ll alert you and lead you to them. This is going to be huge when it becomes commercially available.
Logic Wireless Bolt Projector Phone
There were a couple of pocket projectors revealed at CES this year, but only one that can make calls as well as sling as cinema on to any screen. The Logic Bolt will chuck video at sizes up to 64 inches, but it’s also a touchscreen talker with GPS. It’s going on sale in the US this year.
Dialaphone has all the latest news on the mobile phones sure to bring a smile to your face in 2010.
