Asus has already confirmed the AIRO laptop is ready for production, and now we’ve scored this exclusive look at the concept drawings that kicked off the whole product.
Jotted down by Asus industrial designer Johnson Shih during his train ride to work in Singapore, they show the embryonic stages of the AIRO’s development. You can clearly see the raised keyboard design, and origami inspired folding mechanism.
Asus says the design promotes better airflow while the laptop is open, but makes the whole package more compact when it’s closed. In fact, the AIRO’s first codename was Airflow.
The whole project was only completed in the last month, but has already won Asus several patents for folding laptop design.
We’re absolutely smitten with its sleek lines and ingenious design, and since all the technology inside already exists, we could see it on sale sooner than you’d think. Check out the first concept sketches below, and see our hands on photos of AIRO too.
