Star Wars fans and hackers rejoice: A new Force Trainer toy is set to use your brainwaves to control physical objects!

The new toy uses a wireless headset, and lets you raise and lower a ping pong ball in a 10 inch high tower, by interpreting brainwaves as signals to speed up or slow down a fan at the bottom.

Will the ball to rise, and with a bit of practice, it will. What’s more, the toy is due to cost just $90, or £60.

Cool, isn’t it? But what we’re really waiting for are the enterprising hackers who will rip this thing to shreds and put the mind-reading technology inside to bad use.

We’re imagining hackers turning off their lights just by thinking about them. Flushing the toilet while nowhere near the pan, or maybe just hoovering up the cat by mistake.

Made by Uncle Milton Industries, it’s due out this year. “It’s been a fantasy everyone has had, using The Force,” Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing told USA Today. He’s not wrong.

Frank Adler of Uncle Milton Industries added: “When you concentrate, it activates the training remote. There is a flow of air that will move the [ball]. You can actually feel like you are in a zone.”

What about a headset for adults to drive a wheelchair by thoughts alone? What about a universal remote headset for different consumer electronics? What about a headset for a robot suit like robocop?
