Tired of logging into all your different social networking sites to see what’s up? Microsoft has the solution: it’s partnered up with Facebook to sling your status changes through its Windows Live platform, so you’ll know when you’ve been poked just by checking your email!
The announcement, made by Steve Ballmer at the Microsoft keynote at CES in Las Vegas, means that you’ll be able to log in to the new Windows Live Essential suite with one password and have all your updates from everything from Twitter to Flickr, and more than 50 other social networks now including Facebook amalgamated on one page. Think of it as an RSS feed to see what your friends are up to.
That should certainly make things easier for users of the world’s biggest social networking site, though we pity anyone who has their Live login hijacked – sync them all like this and your online life is gone in an instant, so make sure your password isn’t just Password or 1234.
