The Palm pre is already lining up to be a potential iPhone killer, but news of the revolutionary accessory it’s coming with should really have Apple running scared: the Palm pre Touchstone is a charging dock that refills the pre with wireless electricity!
We’ve always seen wireless charging as a little bit of a gimmick, but it’s great news for a commercial handset that’s actually coming out soon, especially when the manufacturer, Palm, is so business oriented. Just pop it on top of the curved shell and it’ll juice up. If someone rings whilst it’s resting on it, just picking it up will answer the phone.
Unlike the pre itself, there weren’t any physical Touchstones on display at the Palm CES keynote today, but come back later when we’ll have hands on stories from the Palm booth on the show floor.
