Media Board

Multitouch is great for phones and computers, but what about advertising? We saw an incredible concept on display at CES today: a multitouch billboard which will let you juggle stacks of multimedia at the same time, on huge screen HDTVS.

The photos below don’t quite do justice to the Media Board. It’s a great concept: scores of windows float along, all playing at the same time – if you want. Bring windows forward, zoom in and out with two finger multitouch and scroll through files within windows. It looks remarkably like the touch computer in the last Bond movie, but it’s real now, working in sizes from 19 all the way to 80 inches.

There’s no limit to the number of panes you can have floating around – the one we had going had stacks of videos playing – but there’s absolutely no slowdown, and it works a treat. It’s even connected to the internet, so breaking news scrolls along the bottom.

You could theoretically use this in the home, but even with a maximum capacity of 50GB, there’s only so many videos you could scroll through simultaneously. And why would you want to anyway? No, this one’s for companies, shopping centres and tourist sites, but we still hope it gets funding.
