Possibly trying to grab a bit of the user created content action that is fueling LittleBigPlanet’s success on the PS3, Microsoft has unveiled Kodu – a new visual game creation tool for the Xbox Live Community Games Channel.
Similar in many ways to those game makers that used to be popular on 8-bit computers (e.g. Garry Kitchen’s Game Maker for the C64) Kodu lets you create ‘playgrounds’ full of objects that can follow simple rules and interact with each other in particular ways.
“We’ve done everything possible to make sure that creating a Kodu playground is not only easy, but that it is also fun and engaging for people of all ages and backgrounds,” said lead Kodu designer Matt MacLaurin .
