Sony tempted us with some new trinkets at its CES press conference yesterday, but it’s got a few more surprises up its sleeves today at the Sony Keynote at CES. What else will Sir Howard Stringer reveal? Keep refreshing on our live blog for minute by minute updates!

18:38 And that’s it. So, two great concepts demoed, an environmental phone and an alarm clock. Mixed bunch, better than Microsoft though. We’re off to see if it’s not too late to get into Palm’s keynote.

18:37 “Where does it go? The sense of wonder?” Stringer wants us all to imagine, which must be the latest buzzword. I think he’s wrapping up now.

18:35 Stringer’s trying to usher Usher off stage now. Any more new products?

18:33 Stringer and Usher are talking. Usher says his wife gave birth to his two sons in a Sony hospital. I think he’s joking, but in this celeb fest, it’s difficult to tell.

18:28 Usher is singing now, acoustic. Be much more fun if Stringer crunked to Yeah though.

18:25 Stringer says the new netbook is u for pre-order now, though this may just be America.

18:23 It’s a much longer clip. Dreamworks doing something better than Pixar for once? So it seems.

18:19 From now on, every Dreamworks film will be authored in 3D.

18:20 From now on, every Dreamworks film will be authored in 3D. We’re seeing a clip of the next one now, and it’s every bit as good as the Pixar one.

18:17 Jeffrey Katzenberg of Dreamworks is on stage to rave about 3D cinema. With 3D, “the movie industry will be entering the third great period of revolutionary change”.

18:14 3D footage of an American football game from last week. It’s a bit blurry but looks great, you see the distance between players down the field.

18:12 This is more like it. Sony’s playing a 3D clip from a Pixar short, and it’s awesome! No green and red rubbish.

18:09 Concept environmentally friendly phone will be on display at CES. Stringer’s getting to the 3D at last.

18:08 Stringer is giving Reggie a chocolate bar on stage. We’re absolutely at a lost as to why this is happening.

18:06 Jackson is regaling the audience with baseball anecdotes. When I say regaling, I mean boring.

18:03 Stringer’s back now, and now he’s got baseball player Reggie Jackson up on stage. GET TO THE 3D TV!

18:01 Jet lag was OK, the trick’s just to stay awake for as long as possible. Adjusting when you get back is always worse, plus you lose eight hours. Oz is still talking by the way.

17:59 It’s not too bad here. Chilly the first day. Sunny and clear today though, haven’t seen any rain yet.

17:58 He’s here now on stage, Dr Oz. So, um, what’s the weather been like at home?

17:56 More Sony American TV show news. Oprah Winfrey’s doctor is getting his own vehicle. I should really be trying to save my battery instead of typing this.

17:54 More Sony puff. Go away already.

17:50 MTV is now partnering with PlayStation Network. Watch Date My Mom on your PS3!

17:48 Sorry for the delay, lost signal. The SCEE president is up now for PS3 and PSP news, but he’s just been talking about LittleBig Planet.

17:43 Toy Story 3 is out 2010, the first two films will be released in 3D as well.

17:42 Oh, the next Pixar film will be in 3D, Up. Soon, “We will finally be able to have 3d at home with Blu-ray”.

17:40 “The future of this technology is pretty amazing”. So what is it?

17:38 Lasseter is demonstrating some pointless BD Live content on the Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray menu.

17:36 A clip of Wall-E in HD. Where’s the 3D, Sony?

17:35 Lasseter “is such a believer in Blu-ray…you can’t go back when you have this.” Not when Sony’s paying you anyway!

17:34 Ooo, now John Lasseter’s wandered on stage to talk about Blu-ray.

17:32 “Our next step is 20 to 30 inch class” OLED TVs. Nice! Now he’s showing off a flexible OLED screen prototype in the flesh. Want want want.

17:30 Now he’s on to OLED, fingers crossed.

17:29 Now he’s showing off a digital picture frame alarm clock. Not a bad mashup gadget if you ask us. It’ll work with services like Pandora too.

17:27 It’s going on sale very soon for an “extraordinarily reasonable price”.

17:25 Howard’s just pulled out the WiFi Cybershot Camera, which can send pictures to Picasa or even Bravia TVs from a hotspot.

17:24 Sony wants 90 per cent of its products “wirelessly connected to the internet and each other” by 2011. Even white goods? Ace!

17:21 Stringer is outlining the “CES 7″: motivational nonsense about innovation. Come on Stringer, cut the marketing bull, you’re a Brit!

17:19 Stringer: “I can promise you the consumer electronics industry will ultimately prevail”. Good good. What have you got for us today?

17:17 They’re still in the labs though, which is probably a good thing. Hanks is going now, noooo! “The evil forces of Samsung are pulling me”.

17:15 Oh wait, Stringer and Hanks are wearing glasses with video screens in them. Hanks isn’t impressed.

17:14 Stringer’s putting on the glasses. 3D TV coming up!

17:12 “Please welcome to the stage if Bluetooth works out, Lord Howard Stringer!”. Out comes Stringer. Hanks is now plugging LG. Don’t go!

17:11 Tom Hanks should improvise more stuff, this is quality. He’s completely mocking the teleprompter. He’s about to introduce Stringer though, whilst insulting him.

17:10 “The evil geniuses of CES…everywhere in the world I see the name Sony!” I’ve got a new found respect for Tom Hanks now. He’s really going for Sony’s jugular.

17:08 I’m really not making this up. I think he’s mean to be plugging the Da Vinci Code sequel, but he’s just going on about how old gadgets are rubbish.

17:06 This is brilliant, he’s slagging off Betamax and Laser Disc, and Sony’s PRs! What’s he doing here?

17:05 Whoa, Tom Hanks has just come on stage. That was unexpected. Now he’s talking about how boring Shapiro’s speech was, go Hanks!

17:02 Right, sorry about that. Shapiro is winding down now. There was more fluff in that speech than in the pillow I slept on last night.

16:51 No change yet.

16:46 Still talking about the US economy…Still talking about the US economy…Shapiro is projecting flat revenue growth for consumer electronics in 2009 – in fact a 0.6% drop. I like his tie.

16:42 I’m going to shut my laptop until he stops talking. You don’t mind, do you?

16:40 Shapiro’s telling us not to worry about the economy. All very well, unless you’ve been laid off.

16:38 We’re starting. Gary Shapiro is back again. Now, what do you think Stringer’s going to be wearing? It’ll have to top Steve Ballmer’s maroon sweater.

16:35 We were promised “the future of imaging” by Sony yesterday, but it’d better not be 3D photography. Clips of old movies now playing about the economy. This is surprisingly gloomy stuff actually – should Sony be airing its financial troubles like this?

16:32 So, what’s it going to be today? 3D TV is definitely on the cards, but if you’ve got any other predictions shout them up in the comments now! If you’re right, we might send you a prize or something, but probably not.

16:28 PSP advert now playing, with plenty of aspirational lifestyle footage to boot.

16:26 There’s a film trailer playing for an Adam Sandler produced comedy. It doesn’t look very good.

16:23 Well, we’re in. It’s the same room as the Microsoft Keynote yesterday, but maybe this time there’ll be some ACTUAL PRODUCTS to show. We’ve all been given a pair of 3D glasses though, which bodes well.

You said on your CNN comment that CES was disappointing becuase all you saw from Microsoft were things that were already leaked. But the general public doesn’t hear that stuff and leaks are not facts until the company speaks them.

So lets try to stay realistic. You sounded like a disappointed kid on christmas day not getting anything new you hadn’t already peaked and saw (which you were not supposed to.

What is wrong with this blog. There are so many other ways you could be pointlessly attacking Sony. Microsoft is paying you for more than this. Stop laying down on the job. You will never become a great site if you can’t do a better job of uselessly attacking Sony! Get it in gear. You also need to do a better job of slagging on products you don’t like because you are some 20 year old dork. Never mind if families would care for them. You have to learn to ram your opinion down everyone’s throat. There is no respect in giving an objective view. Jeesh, learn how to manipulate.

@bwheatley: It’s a fair point, especially RE Windows 7, but mulling it over there really wasn’t anything much new on show otherwise, leaks or no. Inevitable Halo games and what else? Windows Live update? I can’t wait. No wait, I can :)
